Reduce inches, Sculpt Contours, and Smooth Cellulite

Body Sculpt and Cellulite Massage performed by  Norm Hamilton, R.M.T. is designed to assist your body in its natural function of removing excess toxins, increasing blood flow and energy flow, while at the same time smoothing cellulite areas and re-shaping the body.  You will experience a loss of inches in the process as well.  The technique use the body’s ability to work for itself without using invasive or dangerous methodologies such as surgery.

This technique was developed by Patricia Parkinson of Dermasculpture® The descriptions below have been reproduced, with minor variation, from her workbook "Pat Parkinson's Dermasculpture Cellulite Massage - Workbook for Therapists".

How does this work?

Using a distinct set of massage techniques your therapist will help your body to smooth cellulite and re-shape the natural contours of your body.

Body Sculpt and Cellulite Massage takes place over a period of weeks.  You will also be instructed in techniques to use at home as well in order to maintain the results.   Also provides massage benefits of increased blood flow and elimination of toxins.

What is Cellulite?

Nobody has a “perfect” body.  So, if  not born with the perfect silhouette of Aphrodite (and even that changes over time) what is our true nature?  Why do women have the bumpy hips and thighs, even when thin? How is it that otherwise healthy women struggle with the appearance of dimpled thighs?  Does it mean there is something wrong with them? Are they somehow flawed?  The popular name of Cellulite was finally given to that extra layer of fat that becomes dimpled and irregularly shaped.; that “cottage cheese” look.

Fat is an insulator that maintains a constant body temperature. It acts as a protective padding in certain key locations on the body.   Women have a layer of fat on their bodies which is designed to provide protection and care for the process of procreation.  Many adult women and even some adolescent girls begin to get cellulite long before even considering pregnancy and motherhood.  However, that does not change the fact that nature is still getting ready for it.

Even though we all know it’s unhealthy as well as uncomfortable to have too much fat on the body, too little fat creates other problems. The female hormone estrogen and calcium are stored in the fat cells. A balance must be maintained for a healthy body. Too little body fat doesn’t allow for the storage of either of these indispensable elements.

It is also true that toxins are stored in the fat cells.  This is where the lymphatic system comes into play. It drains the lymph fluid that collects toxins from all over the body and dumps it into the lymph glands. This all gets filtered and goes back into the blood stream where the process begins again. This is all part of the immune system, the major player in the body’s defenses against infection.

So...Fat is Necessary??

The short answer is, “Yes”.  However, too much is a health problem both physically and, for some, emotionally.

 Body Sculpt and Cellulite Massage

The purpose of this massage is not to replace proper eating habits and exercise, rather, to enhance them.  For many, no matter how much weight loss takes place the dimpled cellulite remains.  Trying to lose more fat tissue does not smooth these areas but may create a health hazard if it becomes an extreme. (anorexia, bulimia)

 How Does It Work?

Body Sculpt and Cellulite Massage is a process that is performed at least two times per week for a period of 15 sessions.  (Results begin to show after 7 to 10 sessions)  You will also be shown techniques to use at home to further enhance the process and maintain the results longer.

The massage techniques are performed on the areas of most concern including backs of arms, upper legs, thighs, “saddle bags”, buttocks,  and waist  You will be draped by a sheet with only the area being worked on will be uncovered at any one time.  Together we will maintain your modesty and  privacy while still being able to work the necessary areas of your body.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I’m not overweight and I exercise, why can’t I get rid of cellulite? - It seems to be a part of the body that exercise alone doesn’t reach.  Outside stimulation such as massage is one way to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Can it help me lose weight?  - Not Directly.  This is not a replacement for proper eating and exercise.  It is an integrated therapy that smoothes cellulite and in the process enhances healthy choices.

Do I need a special diet? - No.  A diet low in fat, high in fiber, and low in calories with a good mix of protein and carbohydrates is recommended.  The best suggestion is to talk to a dietician.

Does it hurt? - There is usually some discomfort during the first few sessions as a substantial amount of pressure is necessary.  As time progresses the pain lessens and most begin to tolerate or even appreciate the deep penetration.

Will I  bruise? - Depends on the individual.  If bruising does occur it usually disappears in a short time.  A deficiency in calcium creates a good possibility for bruising.  Vitamin C,  Calcium and lots of water are recommended.

How long does it take before I begin to see results? - It takes seven to ten sessions to begin to see results. (some more, some less) The closer you are to your ideal weight the shorter time usually.

Will I have to do the massages forever? - When you exercise and tone your body, then stop...it will return to its former condition.  Much the same with cellulite.  However, you will be taught some self-massage to enhance and lengthen the time the effect has.  Periodic massage from your therapist will be of benefit to maintain the effects as well.
